Krishnaya Vasudevaya – A divine prayer to Lord Krishna

Best Wishes

कृष्णाय वासुदेवाय हरये परमात्मने ।
प्रणत-क्लेशनाशाय गोविन्दाय नमो नमः ॥

‘Krishnaya Vasudevaya’ is a beautiful devotional prayer offered to Lord Sri Krishna. Through this simple yet meaningful verse, a devotee bows again and again to Krishna as Vasudeva, Hari, Paramatma and Govinda, remembering Him as the divine presence who removes the suffering of those who surrender to Him with faith.

The words ‘कृष्णाय वासुदेवाय’ offer salutations to Sri Krishna, the son of Vasudeva. ‘हरये परमात्मने’ remembers Him as Hari and Paramatma — the Supreme Soul present within all beings. The phrase ‘प्रणत-क्लेशनाशाय’ expresses the prayer that the troubles and sorrows of those who humbly seek His refuge may be removed. Finally, ‘गोविन्दाय नमो नमः’ means repeated salutations to Govinda.

This shloka carries a beautiful message of surrender and trust. It reminds us that devotion is not only about asking for blessings, but also about placing our worries before the Divine and finding the inner strength to face life with faith and peace.

Paired with the innocent and joyful form of Balakrishna, this prayer becomes even more heartwarming. The little Krishna with his peacock feather, flute and butter pot represents divine love expressed through simplicity, playfulness and affection. May the grace of Sri Krishna remove sorrow from our hearts and fill our homes with peace, happiness, wisdom and devotion.
